Are you sure you meant "dystrophy" and not "atrophy"? I don't speak Polish, but google translate seems to indicate the latter.

"Muscular dystrophy" would imply that the wizard was born with the disease, and that it presented itself when it did, pretty much coincidentally.

"Muscular atrophy" would imply that the wizard lost use of his muscles because he didn't exercise them.
